TECHNOLOGY IN DETAIL
Our innovative catalyst TARDIGRAD is a special platinum catalyst in the shape of a monolith honeycomb. It´s main area of application is the first bed of SO3 converter in the wet gas desulfurization process. Additionally, there is a wide field of industrial applications, wherever the oxidation of hydrogenated hydrocarbons or sulfur compounds such as H2S, COS, SO2 at low temperatures is required.
Compared to conventional pellet catalyst, a substantial reduction of the cross-sectional area of the converter is achieved, which has a major impact on converter design and investment costs.
The TARDIGRAD application for gas desulfurization (wet technology) in many cases does not require an additional incinerator. This allows for a more compact reactor vessel design, which in turn reduces plant costs and saves energy.
The special shape and formulation ensure very low specific pressure drop and thermal stability. This directly reduces operating costs.
Supplementarily, this shape ensures low dust sensitivity, which in turn leads to reduced maintenance costs for catalyst cleaning. Losses for screening are completely avoided. In comparison to a pellets catalyst, the honeycomb shape remains stable throughout its lifetime.
The chemical activity and stability of the catalyst, the different shapes and composition of the support material, as well as the physical operational data (pressure drop), ensure a constantly efficient and reliable catalytic oxidation processes.
