For a wide range of SO2 feed gases containing dust, OXYSULF MET is used. OXYSULF MET is applied in the metallurgical industry to treat roast gases containing dust (with dust concentration of up to 180g /Nm3). The roast gas leaving the furnace is cooled to 400 – 600 °C.

The physical properties of the dust dictate the cleaning technology to be used:

  • For free-flowing dust the gas stream is treated with a dry process. The cooled gas passes over the cyclone where the particulates are removed, then the gas passes over the Dry-Fil hot gas filter for a further filtration. After dedusting the gas steam is treated by the OXYSULF NK plant.
  • For not free-flowing dust the gas stream is treated with a wet process. The cooled gas passes over a scrubber where the particulates are removed, then the gas passes over a WESP (Wet Electrostatic Precipitator) for a further cleaning. This is followed by further treatment in a OXYSULF NK plant.
